So this is a day late but welcome to Song/Music Video of the Week. This is another blog from the “Of the Week” series.
Normally I would have posted this yesterday but it was my roommate’s birthday so we were celebrating all day!!
Pentatonix is one of my favorite bands to listen to. When I was in high school and college I was always involved in choirs, vocal ensembles, and concerts. So I have always been such a HUGE fan of ensemble and group singing. I just LOVE harmony!! And I love when people take popular songs and redo them in a group setting with fun harmony and musical changes. PTX is by far one of my favs because they are so creative with their vocals.
When I first heard the song “Royals” by Lorde I was in love with it. Then recently PTX did a phenomenal cover of it and put it out on YouTube and iTunes. It is absolutely amazing. So in the reboot of my blog and the “Of the Week” series I thought it was a perfect first Song/Music Video of the Week. Enjoy and buy their stuff and iTunes and watch all their YouTube videos. You won’t be disappointed :):)
Have a great day y’all!!

Taylor Swift Spoofs Kanye West Incident
‘Kanye West just called — he thinks Beyoncé should host instead,’ Bill Hader says in the ad.
In case anyone was wondering if Taylor Swift is going to go there when she hosts “Saturday Night Live” this week, the answer is yes. The superstar isn’t afraid to poke some fun at Kanye West’s now-infamous VMA stage-crash.
In a promo shot Tuesday, the singer and “SNL” castmember Bill Hader put their spin on the encounter.
Standing in a 30 Rock corridor, the promo opens with Hader on his cell phone while Swift says, “Hey, I’m Taylor Swift, and I’ll be the host and musical guest this week on ‘SNL.’ ” As she completes her line, Hader gets off the phone and tells the star who he was talking to. “Whoops, Kanye West just called. He thinks Beyoncé should host instead,” he said. “Funny joke, right?”
Swift rolls her eyes and whispers to herself, “Wow.” Hader then awkwardly says, “Good times,” before walking off the set whispering to himself, “Hader.” The two share a laugh after they complete the sketch.
In an interview with MTV News before she went off to shoot the promo, she said nothing was off-limits this weekend. “I want to look nothing like myself,” she said. “I told all the writers, ‘Don’t count anything out.’ I want to go completely, 100 percent in. I don’t want to be halfway involved. Just because I have a lot of things to do as far as being musical guest and host doesn’t mean I don’t want to live up to my full hosting demands.”
Isn’t that great?? hahahahahahaha Can’t wait!!
I think that I may have briefly mentioned that when I was at school I was a Musical Theatre major. I had just changed over to that from Music Business in July. I was in what was my first show at school called “Songs of Hope” It was a musical revue that our director had put together. My role was that of a 21 year old punk rocker who had just found out that his wife of only one year was pregnant. The song I sang as that character was called “Fatherhood Blues” It was great.
I also had a solo in a song called “Coming Together” by Jason Robert Brown that was the closing number of the show. I shared the male solo with my best friend Steven. I was so excited when I was given this solo, because I have known and loved this song for years and I have always wanted to have the opportunity to perform it because it meant so much to me and I related to it personally on so many levels as did most of us in the show. So I was PUMPED when I was given the opportunity to share it with m best friend.
Unfortunately circumstances came about that caused me to have to leave school and leave the show. So I never got the chance to sing the song for a live audience, but I recorded a little clip the other day singing my solo part as well as a little of the chorus that Steven sang. Since I never got to sing it I thought I would at least share it with the internet community and see what you guys think!!
So here it is!!
So I am so thrilled that it is finally November. I think that October, November and December are my top three favorite months in the year. They are my favorite for several reasons. Probably three. I love the look of the world, in October and November we have those “colors of fall” which are so gorgeous. Then the look of Christmas is part of this but we will wait until December to talk about all that.
The second probably is how the weather is starting to turn colder and it is all just wonderful to me.
Then of course the three big holidays. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. One in each month that brings family and friends together to spend time and just flat out have a good time.
I think that the season of Fall is always VERY significant to me. It is the time of the year where to me you see the most change in the world as far as environment, for some a new school year where things are different. Better movies are always out this time of the year getting ready for the Oscars. I always seem to go through the most changes in life of the year during the fall months. ESPECIALLY this year. So much had changed and is different now than it was just a couple of months ago in the summer.
I love that line in the Jordin Sparks song “No Parade” that says, “Changes come but where they go you never know” It is so true. I would have never thought just two months ago that I would be where I am now. It is such a perfect example of how things can change so fast in the blink of an eye.
But I think that it is all about how you take the change. What I always try to do and what I encourage others to do is to always move forward. We don’t have a very long time here before it is all over. So by God make the most of it. Live each day like it was your last one because you never know when that will be.
So in the words of the new Carrie Underwood song that was released on her album today – PLAY ON!!!!
That’s my thoughts for today!!
Everyone have a great rest of the week!!
Tomorrow is HUMP day!! haha
This week’s song is by the amazing and beautiful Leona Lewis!!!! OMG love her!! This song sorta describes my life right now. I am not really in the place that I want to be or doing what I want to be doing, but I am doing everything in my power to make the best out of the situation. I’ve had the reoccurring theme going through my head of living for right now and living every day as if it is the last. Sometimes we spend so much time worrying about things and always trying to play it safe that we end up being unhappy.
One of the lines in this song says, “so unhappy, but safe as could be.” Then the chorus says – “so what if it hurts, me, so what if I break down, so what if this world just throws me off the edge, my feet run out of ground. I gotta find my place, I wanna hear my song, don’t care about all the pain in front of me, I’m just trying to be happy.”
OMG isn’t that amazing!!
Hope that you all enjoy Leona Lewis’s “Happy”
Here is a new “Today In Oz”
This week’s Photo Of the Week is from this past weekend when I went to Mobile to see the show Songs of Hope that I was supposed to be in and had to step out of a few weeks ago. It was so amazing. Afterwards I went out to Steak N’ Shake with some of the cast. My AMAZING friends!!!! Some people can’t see their whole face, but it is still a fun picture that i LOVE!!!!
Leighton Meester is absolutely amazing and this week I just discovered that she is the girl singing in the Cobra Starship song “Good Girls Go Bad” I know this song has been around for awhile, but I am just now discovering it so it is new to me.
Here is the video!!
