Happy Memorial Day 2014

Happy Memorial Day everyone!!

I hope that all of you will enjoy your festivities today and take the time to remember all of our United States men and women who have risked their lives in service so that we can remain free.

So if anyone has wondered where we’ve been here’s the story. My mom and my little nephew came into Orlando last weekend to stay and visit for two weeks. The original plan was that I would still be doing some things here and there but Mix It Up was gonna be on a short hiatus. Then this past Thursday night all three of us were in a car accident. My mama has very sore back, neck, and chest. As well as a cut place on her knee and some other little things. I have had some pretty bad soreness in my back and neck which has put me out of work until I can get in to my doctor on Tuesday to be checked out better. Praying that nothing serious has happened so I can go back to work very soon!!

So in the mean time we will be on a hiatus until everything gets back to normal. In the mean time I will be posting some photos from my favorite part of the summer Star Wars Weekends!! Which began last weekend at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!! I was able to attend all three days of the first weekend and it was fabulous!!
Be in prayer for us and stay tuned for new stuff to begin again next week!!

Mother Hears Her Daughter’s Heartbeat Again – Random Video of the Week

Welcome back to my “Of the Week” blog series.  For this week’s random video I found a very heart warming and tear jerking story from Good Morning America

I have always been a supporter of organ donation and seeing stories like this make my passion even stronger.  This is a beautiful story that GMA covered about a mother who through the power of social media was able to hear her deceased daughter’s heartbeat again.

Watch This Mom Listen to Her Daughter’s Heartbeat One Last Time.  It’s So Powerful It Left These News Anchors in Tears

Taylor died in a tragic ski accident at 13, but her heart was donated to save the life of a mother in Phoenix.  Watch as Taylor’s mom listens to her daughter’s heart for the last time.

Happy 4th of July

Happy Independence Day America!!!! Hope everyone has an awesome day as we celebrate our freedom in this amazing country that we live!!
Stay safe!!

For today I wanted to post a video and the lyrics to one of my favorite patriotic songs. It is called “For Freedom” by Avalon. So here is a video that I found on YouTube of them singing the National Anthem and “For Freedom” at a Sean Hannity Freedom Concert in 2007. It isn’t the entire group. I’m not sure why Melissa wasn’t there and I don’t know who the black man is because he isn’t in Avalon, but he is amazing!! He must have been feeling in at the time. But it is still is a really good video. They mess up the lyrics a lil bit on “For Freedom” but it is still good and it’s the only live video I could find. Here is the video and the lyrics. I hope you enjoy!! Happy 4th!!

For Freedom – Avalon

Somewhere a trumpet sounds in the night
A soldier is standing there
It’s calling him out to the stars and the stripes
It’s calling him God knows where

He kisses the ones he loves goodbye
and leaves in the dead of night
For freedom he’ll heed the call
Leave all he knows
And for freedom he’ll stand and fight

And somewhere a man and wife
can’t believe they’re waving their girl goodbye
For gone are the days of pigtails and curls and candlelight lullabies

If they had their way she’d stay young forever
and never be far from home
But freedom has drawn her heart to danger’s shore
And for freedom they’ll let her go

And somewhere a thunderous crash in the night
It echoes all through the hills
Though many escape it’s wrath and it’s rage
A soldier lies wounded still

Remembering the land he loves, he cries
I’ve loved you with all my might
For freedom said I’m her son whatever comes
And for freedom I’ll say goodbye

And somewhere beneath the stars and the sky
Our flag is still standing there
She bled and she brought one land under God
Her colors still lead us there

She’s carried the lives of those before us
She’s buried the bold and brave
For freedom she holds our hopes and and hands up high
And for freedom she’ll ever wave

New Oz LayoutI KNOW that I have only had “Gray In Oz” open for less than a month, but I decided that it was time for a new look for summer.

I live in Alabama and it is HOT here.  The highs everyday for the past few weeks have been close to 100 and it is sometimes almost unbearable.  Last week at my brother’s wedding (which was outside) we all got way too hot and almost got sick.  But luckily the ceremony wasn’t too long and we went inside where it was cool.

Anyways as a result of it being such a HOT summer, I decided that the look of the blog should have more of a summer look.  This is a WordPress layout, because I will never be able to make my own.  It is called “Sunburn”  What better choice?

Everything is pretty much the same with the exception of the menu.  This layout didn’t have a set menu on the top of the page like the previous one did.  So what I did was add a widget in the top right corner of the page.  here you can find all of the various pages that are part of the site.

I hope that everyone enjoys the new look.

Now I realize that unless you have watched my TAKE A BOW archive, or visited my Facebook, then some of you unless you know me have no idea what I look like.  There is a good reason for this.  haha  When I opened “Gray In Oz” it was right after I had had major surgery on my jaw.  I didn’t really want to post a pic of the “old” me because since this was a new thing, I wanted to be able to post the “new” me.  Now that it has been a little over three weeks since the surgery, and my swelling and stuff has gone down a lot, I have decided it is time to share a new photo that was taken earlier this week.  So here is it is.

The "New" Me

In the coming days I hope to finish my blog about the surgery and post some before AND after photos, so that you can see the adventure that I have been through with this operation.  It has definitely been an experience to remember, and it is still not over.

Enjoy the new look, and I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!!
